Classroom Rules

 1. Follow the Golden Rule

 2. Respect myself

 3. Respect others

 4. Respect property

 Homework and Behavior

Classroom rules were decided upon as a team. Students will be given gentle reminders if they fail to follow those rules. If negative behaviors continue the student will be removed from the table group for a time out. If disrespect would continue after a time out the student will be removed from the classroom and given a behavior demerit. If there are 3 time outs in a short period of time the student will be given a demerit and removed from a table group. 3 demerits would lead to a detention. 4 demerits would mean a conference with the parent(s), child, and teacher after school.

If a student fails to turn in a homework assignment, he/she will be given a demerit. That demerit will be stapled to the assignment book. If for some reason the demerit sheet is not signed and returned the next morning, the student will remain in the office until the parent can be contacted by phone. If a second missing assignment happens, the same consequences with the addition of a time-out to complete a problem solving sheet. If there is a third occurrence, then the parent(s) will be notified and detention will be held. A fourth missing assignment in a trimester will mean a conference with the parent(s), child, and teacher after school.

Those students who show true leadership will be rewarded for their good behavior. A list is attached. Please remember that praise and follow through at home will only help strengthen the moral in the classroom.
