5th Grade
Welcome | Supply List
Thanks to those of you who attended our mass, December 12th. If you were unable to attend, the students accompanied me by bringing up the gifts during the liturgy. I was told later, it certainly made for a heartful mass.
In math we have entered the world of fractions. Your child will be taught the skills to find equivalents, reduce to lowest terms, add and subtract, and multiply by a whole number. Mixed numbers and impropers will also be part of the unit. Each skill taught builds upon another; so it is importantyour child is in attendance and completes each homework assignment. When your child is absent, their homework should be picked up so they don't fall behind.
Currently the fifth grade students are learning to solve problems that involve fractions. Through the month of january skills will be taught that involve equivalent and simplified fractions. Mixed numbers and improper fractions will next be taught. Adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators will be next. Each skill builds on the previous one. It is important that homework be completed accurately. Please monitor your childs work.
In religion the students just finished the unit about the liturgy of the mass. The results of their understanding is sent to you for signature. Next subject are the sacraments of healing.
Happy new year
