The following is a general overview of the reading and writing assignments for this year. The students are expected to read nine accelerated reading books this year and take the corresponding quizzes. Here is the breakdown: Each student is expected to read three books per trimester. I will send reminders often.
The students will be exposed to many different types of reading genre this year. They will also have to learn about all the elements of literature. Please read the Seventh Grade News for updates.
Throughout the year the students will be asked to create a type of writing that will follow a specific theme. The format of these writings will vary and include poetry, theme writings, and mini research reports in Religion. Lastly, each student will write a research paper in Science . This gives you an idea of the writing curriculum for seventh grade.
We have discussed some of the key rules for 7th grade and
will continue to review them throughout the month of September. They are not too
difficult to follow. Truthfully, it is your child’s choice to follow or not
follow the rules. However, just as was discussed in class, there are always
consequences for everything in life. Each student is in control of his/her
choices. I will do my best to help guide your child here at school, and I ask
you to help me with this at home. Thanks.
