Religion
Welcome back Sister Margaret! We are pleased that Sister Margaret is back with us for a weekly religion lesson. Last week her class was on religious icons. We will be following up with an art lesson on the topic.
Students are busy working on projects about our patron saints. The boys are writing a play and creating a powerpoint presentation on St. Damien of Molokai. The girls have opted to do exhibits and a skit on St. Katherine Drexel. Another group is preparing a Jeopardy-style game as a culmination of our studies.
Language Arts
We hope to finish Fahrenheit 451 this week and move on to Edgar Allan Poe. We had a little fun with Halloween poems and a Day of the Dead descriptive paragraph. Students will write an essay for Veterans Day as well.
Social Studies
We're finishing up the legislative branch and looking at the executive branch. We've had several tests on Constitution material which they can use to study for the cummulative test. Parents can test their own knowledge as they quiz their child on the subject.
Art
One student called it "our own little art gallery" and the wall outside the eighth grade classroom is bursting with color! Now showing are our chalk leaf designs and Day of the Dead skull masks. Soon a collage showing a figure in motion and featuring a full spectrum of color will join them.
COME CHECK US OUT AT THE OPEN HOUSE THIS WEEKEND!
