Our trip to Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm was fun! It was a very gloomy and rainy morning but that did not dampen the kindergarten spirit! We forged ahead to a hayride through the pumpkin patch and cornfields. We took a ride on a train. We saw many animals including a horse, ponies, a donkey, chickens, a cow and bull, newborn chicks, lamas, and pigs. We fed the goats and sheep some oats in an ice cream cone . That felt funny on our hands!
We played in the “fort” and on a wooden tractor. We listened to a story about a giant and he was right there! The giant was taller than our classroom! He was hungry but did not want to grow his own vegetables to eat! .
Farmer Paul told us the history of the farm and explained how pumpkins grow all while we were sitting in a grain bin that holds 20,000 bushels of corn. We learned even pumpkins have a belly button like us! Farmer Paul said all food comes from God.
We enjoyed our lunch together in a BIG tent. Last we came home with a pie pumpkin. The rain held off for half of our trip but we were dry in our “plastic bag” raincoats. We had a wonderful trip together!
